Dummy date. Prior to the band's arrival in California in 1969 they played a final gig at the surfboard factory to raise the money for the trip. They played at Monmouth College on the 12th, so it must have been after this date. They arrived in California on Xmas Day having started traveling on the 22nd.That only leaves 9 possible days when the gig could have taken place. Vinnie Roslin, in Backstreets #30, recalled, "we had one last gig at Tinker's surfboard factory to raise enough money for the trip to California". Thanks to Craig and Peter for the research.

Corroborated by Vini Roslin in Backstreets and Bruce in 'Down Thunder Road' who called it a "wild crazy party".
ONE show, held outdoors, probably with other performers on the bill. According to individual comments made by Springsteen, Lopez and Roslin this "concert" seems to have been a New Years Eve party that had been planned before the band arrived at Esalen. The band hung around Big Sur for about a week (staying in a log cabin) before heading up to the San Francisco area.
