The legendary Pandemonium opened for business on Feb 14, 1969. “Jam Sessions’ (i.e. Talent Quests) were held on several Thursday evenings during the clubs first couple of months of operation. An event on this night is noted in the local paper as attracting “a variety of young local musicians”, some seeking an opportunity to receive paid bookings at the new club. It is believed that Springsteen, perhaps with some members of what was about to become (or had just become) “CHILD”, may have performed on this night. Whatever the exact details may be, CHILD would become hot property at the club within a few weeks.

Notes:
According to Vinnie Roslin this is the debut gig for CHILD. This was an outdoor show, with Child billed near the bottom. The group consists of Springsteen (guitar, lead vocals), Vinnie Roslin (bass, vocals), Danny Federici (organ) and Vini Lopez (drums, flute and vocals). CHILD is initially managed by Patricia Duffy, who co-managed EARTH, Bruce's previous band. This line-up would stay intact until March 1970.
